Who are you really?

This is the question that I was asked in one of my latest educations.

I thought it would be good to remind ourselves but also share this question especially with young people who are starting their career path.

For young people who would like to be part of the system, it would be good to begin from basic positions and learn as much as they can. While climbing the career ladder, they will encounter many challenges, but the main ones will be how to keep their identity and integrity.

During the process of career growth and promotion, the most important thing is to stay true to yourself and keep your authenticity.

The need for constant change and development is, of course, needed and welcomed but the core values must be present at all times. Sometimes we need to be reminded of those values. In my case, I am so grateful to coaching journey because it is constantly reminding me of who I am and additionally supporting me in keeping core values.

Don’t identify yourself with the position

There are plenty of those who started from zero, reached the top, and went again to their starting point. Life is unpredictable. Everything can happen.

Always be focused. Never forget that you’re building the career with your name and surname. Positions change, but your core values should not.

It happens that people abandon their values because someone else advised them to adapt to certain standards or requirements. In some companies that really works – by adapting you get the promotion faster and earn more money. However, the price is high. People usually lose themselves along the way.

Despite the pressure and challenges, maintaining self-respect as well as respect for others, preserving your identity and integrity while never forgetting where you came from should be the number one priority.
