In the ever-evolving landscape of business, it’s becoming evident that traditional management approaches may no longer be enough. Today, I’d like to shed some light on the significance of incorporating somatics and the Polyvagal theory into our business lives and why I decided to enrich my programs with them.

Somatics, in essence, is about tapping into the wisdom of the body to enhance self-awareness and improve our ability to connect with others. As an accredited somatic coach, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of these techniques not only in my professional practice but also in my everyday life. For me, somatics isn’t just a methodology; it’s a profound way of being. It goes beyond the confines of traditional coaching and management by recognizing that the body and mind are intrinsically linked.

The Polyvagal theory, created by Dr. Porges, explores the complex interplay between our autonomic nervous system and social engagement. I had the privilege of meeting him and listening to his insights, which left a profound impact on my understanding of human connection. In a business context, understanding the Polyvagal theory can help managers create environments where employees feel safe, connected and valued. This, in turn, leads to increased trust, collaboration, and innovation.

So, why did I decide to incorporate somatics and the Polyvagal theory into my programs and what inspired me to create B2B Somatic Academy of Leadership?

Here are just a few reasons:

  1. Enhanced emotional intelligence – somatic practices can help us better understand our emotional responses and those of our team members. This can greatly foster more empathetic leadership.
  2. Stress reduction – the Polyvagal theory provides insights into how to create environments that reduce stress, leading to a happier, more engaged workforce.
  3. Improved communication – somatic awareness can enhance non-verbal communication skills, allowing managers to connect much better with their teams.
  4. Resilience – learning to regulate our nervous system responses can help us stay calm and composed in high-pressure situations, a valuable trait in leadership.

Let’s embark on this journey of self-discovery. Coaching Competences for Managers – powered by Somatic starts on 27th September.
