Last Tuesday, I wrote about somatics in general, and I am very thankful for all the messages I received. Today I would like to be even more specific.

Why can somatic coaching in leadership change the corporate environment for the better? Who can benefit from it? How?

Firstly, we can all agree that it’s not easy to be a leader in today’s world due to many challenges. The pressure is enormous. People depend on you. Companies rely on your decisions. Leaders must navigate the unpredictable and fast-paced business environment. Sometimes I heard even great leaders say, “My tongue was tied. I didn’t know what to say,” or the complete opposite, “I let off steam by doing something I never thought I would do.”

Somatics can be of great help to current leaders as well as aspiring ones.

I always like to start from presence. Noticing your feelings directs the focus to the present moment. Presence builds and inspires trust. Somatic leaders are connected to their emotions and non-verbal signs. They are fully aware of how their body responds to different, very often demanding, situations. Therefore, leaders can create a more impactful presence by aligning thoughts, feelings, and physical presence. Present leaders are in touch with their values, emotions, and sensations. Those things allow them to lead from a place of integrity.

Although some people think that it is all about words and how a person presents some ideas or gives orders, this can’t be more away from the truth. Research has shown that non-verbal communication amounts to more than 90%. Examples of embodied responses are a look, a smile, or how someone moves their body. Recognizing and reading them is very important. Just imagine being able to control that in yourself and recognize that in others. It would be wonderful, wouldn’t it?

Somatic coaching in leadership also helps leaders access their intuition and improve decision-making.

Finally, somatic practices include techniques of stress reduction and building resilience to remain focused and calm in high-pressure situations.

I am inviting you to try something new, something that is not limited to the mind alone but includes the wisdom of the whole body. Join me…
